Award-winning local author and animal-loving activist, Ellen D. Freeman, will be one of several authors on hand to sell and sign books at the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for the newly renovated Hampton County Library, which is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10.
Freeman is the author of “Just George” and the soon-to-be-released “Duke (Plus One),” which tell the stories of two lovable canines dear to the hearts of the author and her family.
“Just George” was recently named a finalist by Outskirts Press for the CIPA EVVY Awards this year and went on to win first place in the category of Juvenile Nonfiction. Only the best of Outskirts books are chosen for this competition. “Just George” will now be considered for Outskirts’ annual Best Book of the Year Award and a possible $1,500 grand prize.
Freeman will have autographed copies of “Just George” available for sale at the library Grand Opening, and “Duke (Plus One) is expected to be available in the next few weeks.
