A multitude of candidates have filed to run in the Nov. 8 General Election. Read more below, and check page 3A for sample ballots.
State House of Representatives, District 122
State Representative Bill Bowers, of Brunson, S.C., will look to retain his position as District 122 State Representative. Bowers is running uncontended.
State Senate, District 40
Brad Hutto, of Orangeburg, S.C., will look to retain his current position as District 122 State Representative.
State Senate, District 45
Senator Margie Bright Matthews, of Walterboro, S.C., will look to retain her current position as State Senator of District 45.
Circuit Solicitor
14th Circuit Court Solicitor Duffy Stone, of Beaufort, S.C., will look to continue his duties as the 14th Circuit Court Solicitor’s position. Stone runs unopposed for the title of Solicitor.
Clerk of Court
Current Hampton County Clerk of Court Mylinda D. Nettles, of Estill, S.C., will run unopposed for the position of Clerk of Court in Hampton County.
Auditor
Teresa H. Williams, of Early Branch, S.C., will run unopposed for the title of Hampton County Auditor.
Treasurer
Jennifer G. Youmans, of Hampton, S.C., will run unopposed for the title of Treasurer of Hampton County.
Hampton County Council
Several individuals are looking to fill two open seats on Hampton County Council. Kenneth Bozard, of Brunson, S.C.; current Hampton County Councilmember Roy T. Hollingsworth, Jr., of Hampton, S.C.; and Ronald G. Winn, of Hampton, S.C., hope to gain enough votes to win a spot on council.
Hampton County Soil and Water District Commission
Doug Jarrell will run unopposed for the position of Soil and Water District Commissioner.
Hampton County District 1 School Board
The following individuals will attempt to gain one of three open seats upon the Hampton County District I school Board: Nicole G. Bennett, of Hampton, S.C.; Robert J. Brown, of Hampton; Theresa Butts, of Hampton; Allanah A. Dobson, of Varnville, S.C.; Kari H. Foy, of Hampton; Kenneth Greene, of Early Branch; Eugene Jenkins, Jr., of Varnville; Libby Murdaugh, of Varnville; Roy D. Noll, of Hampton; Willie S. O’Banner, of Hampton, and Caleb J. Willis, of Early Branch, all look to gain a spot on the Hampton County District 1 School Board.
Hampton County School District 2 School Board
The following individuals will attempt to gain one of three open seats upon the Hampton District II School Board: Mary Ann Atkins, of Estill; Earl N. Choice, of Estill; Bruce H. Davis, of Estill; Christopher Housey, of Estill; Katherine Manigo, of Estill, and Thomas Owens, of Estill, will look to gain a seat on the Hampton County District 2 School Board.
