Betti Crosby-Early Childhood Education Fund Grant Opportunity Announced

Hampton, SC -- The Betti Crosby - PEARLS Early Childhood Education Fund, a fund of Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, announces a grant opportunity for “School Readiness.” Grants are designed to help launch new, innovative projects or enhance existing learning experiences for infants through K5 in Hampton County.

Crosby’s tireless efforts to advance early childhood learning opportunities for pre-kindergarten students and support for their parents in Hampton County are still realized today through a local Mother’s Morning Out program that she started over 30 years ago and through the child development four-year-old program that remains strong in Hampton School District One.

Nonprofit agencies in Hampton County that serve infants through K5 are eligible to apply for funding. The application deadline is March 17, 2017, at 5 p.m. Grant guidelines and the application can be received by calling Jack Hutto at 803-943-3400 or jwhutto1@gmail.com.

 

PEARLS - Philanthropic Empowerment Among Rural Lowcountry Sisters - is a group of dedicated women who care with causes that matter in Hampton County. Since 2006, PEARLS has awarded more than $42,000 in grants to Hampton Country nonprofit organizations. The grant-making focus is strengthening families and individuals in the areas of art and culture, community development, education, the environment, and health and human services. The PEARLS’ Grants Committee establishes criteria and selects several themes; the membership selects the specific theme for each funding cycle meant to benefit grant-seeking, nonprofit organizations.

Since 1994, Community Foundation of the Lowcountry has been connecting people, resources and needs by helping build stronger communities and assisting donors in making a difference through charitable giving. With more than 300 charitable funds, combined assets totaling $65 million and grantmaking and scholarships reaching $58 million, Community Foundation of the Lowcountry is the largest source of unrestricted philanthropic resources dedicated to Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper Counties.
