“They did not give their lives for this country, their lives were violently taken from them fighting for this country,” said a WW II Veteran who spoke to a crowd on Memorial Day in Hampton County during a celebration of fallen soldiers at the All-Wars Memorial.
Betty Ruth Crews then led the audience in singing “God Bless America.” Several other decorated members of the armed services and District 122 State Representative Bill Bowers spoke to the crowd, as well.
Bowers spoke about several deserving individuals from Hampton County who served our nation, including Wayne Crapse, of Brunson, and Melvin Shipes, of Hampton.
