Hampton County Native Hosts 1st Annual Conference to Encourage and Educate Survivors of Breast and Ovarian Cancers.

Hanover, Maryland. – May 24, 2017. 

Colletta Orr is a research scientist studying breast and ovarian cancers and recentlyreleased a book titled, ‘Cancer Doesn’t Always Win’. Orr is the founder of Colletta Orr & Associates.

Orr held her first Conference titled ‘The Pink & Teal Conference’ in Maryland on April 29th where she brought together a panel of experts that included Lynel McFadden, Community Navigator from MEDSTAR-Washington Cancer Institute and Bershan Shaw, TV Actress and Breast Cancer Awareness Advocate- both are survivors of Breast Cancer. Additionally, the panel featured Tawana LaMar, Founder of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition and Felicia Smith, Founder of Goodie Girl Bags, an organization that provides personal hygiene items to homeless women.

Colletta wants every person to focus on being proactive about their health. The Pink and Teal Conference and its sister event, the Pink and Teal Experience, are being held throughout the United States.  The nextevent is scheduled for September 9, 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia then on to Los Angeles, California. Orr is the daughter of Hampton resident Peggy Brabham and the granddaughter of the late Jannie Lee Brabham who succumbed to Ovarian Cancer and is the inspiration for the work Orr carries out in the area of Cancer research.
